King River Rafting offers one day white water rafting experiences from Queenstown and Hobart in Tasmania.
From Queenstown raft the King River on our ‘King for the Day’ trip. This is a 20 km journey through a remote West Coast Gorge to the coast. From the start at Newall Creek in the midst of the West Coast Range to the finish at Lowanna near Macquarie Harbour you will travel through dense temperate rainforest full of huon pine trees. Alternately you may choose to just raft the spectacular King River Gorge and leave the river at Dubbil Barril train station and return to Queenstown by steam train on the West Coast Wilderness Railway. The stories of human history in the area are constantly reinforced by the evidence of past mining endeavours as nature slowly reclaims its own. A sumptuous lunch, a wave to the passing steam train and a glimpse of a white bellied sea eagle round out a memorable day.
From Hobart we offer regular full and half day raft trips on the Derwent River upstream of New Norfolk and morning raft surfing at one of Hobarts southern beaches. The Derwent is a beautiful river flowing through rural countryside with peaceful reaches and small rapids. Both raft surfing and the Derwent River offer welcome relief from the hot summer days. Again our ‘Day on the Derwent’ features a fine lunch.
For those finishing the Cradle Mountain to Lk St Clair Overland Track walk we can collect you at Lk St Clair and transport you to the Queenstown Hotels ready for your rafting adventure next day. Ring and make a booking.
King River Rafting is also able to offer trips on other Tasmanian Rivers and transport and logistic support for your next Tasmanian expedition. Minimum numbers apply so give us a ring to dream your next adventure.
